This is an ecologically-friendly way to experience the Canal du Midi.
Rent a self-drive boat for 4 or 8 hours and go where you like.

Canal du Midi self-drive day boat hire
These boats are electrically-powered and take 2-6 persons. You do NOT need a boating licence. They have a sun-shade and are very easy to drive.

Take a picnic and relax for a few hours or a whole day, whilst discovering the beautiful Canal du Midi with its great scenery and relaxed atmosphere.
Our friends have a small number of these self-drive boats available for hire, by advance booking.

They are situated on a lovely part of the Canal du Midi between Carcassonne and Beziers. Please note that you will need your own car or a taxi, as public transport along the canal is extremely limited.

You will receive a map and directions after making a reservation. (We can't provide this before you make a reservation, because in the past people simply turned up without a booking, which caused confusion and inconvenience to the owner-operators.)

Advance reservations are essential.

RESERVATIONS AND DETAILS
  1. Bookings (reservations) in advance are essential - please contact us here.
  2. Please tell us : name, number of people (adults, children, babies), date and time (please give choices if possible), mobile phone.
  3. We will then send you the booking details.
  4. A €50 euro credit card deposit is required on booking, and this is included in the prices shown above. You will receive a secure link to do this online.
  5. Prices include life-jackets, instruction, administration fee and sales tax.
  6. On the day, you will be asked for a security deposit of €200 which is returned at the end of your hire.
  7. You can go in either direction and you are not limited.
  8. You must return your dayboat to your departure point at the end - one-way hire is not possible.
  9. This service is provided by friends of ours, so please don't ask me what you can see, how far you can go, etc.  It depends on how fast and for how long you cruise!  It's a lovely part of the Canal and you'll have a wonderful time, don't worry.
  10. We regret that no variation is possible from the above offerings.
