CAPESTANG TOURIST MAP

This page shows the starting and embarcation point of your cruise on the Canal du Midi, showing our home base port of Capestang. Capestang is by far the best place to start and end your cruise, in our opinion!

For groups or for privatised hire, the starting points on the Canal can sometimes be varied but not in high season.

Typically Adagio's passengers are staying in places such as Carcassonne, Narbonne, Beziers, Cap d'Agde, to Montpellier.

You will be cruising the best part of the Canal du Midi.

CAPESTANG TOURISM MAP FOR CANAL DU MIDI
LUNCH, DINNER, or DAY-TRIP CRUISES AND BOAT HIRE 2015

Our home port is Capestang, where our standard cruises depart from.
This is the best part of the Canal in the opinion of many people. Most of Adagio's guests are staying in places like Carcassonne, Narbonne, Beziers, Cap d'Agde and Montpellier - and all places in between.  It's worth a short journey to start your cruise in Capestang !
Capestang is a lovely village about 20 minutes to the west of Beziers in the direction of Carcassonne.

It's situated on the best part of the Canal du Midi called "Le grand bief".

Driving time from other places

CARCASSONNE: 50 minutes; BEZIERS: 20 minutes; PEZENAS: 35 minutes;
NARBONNE: 20 minutes; AGDE: 35 minutes; MONTPELLIER: 65 minutes.

TRANSPORT
We can organise taxis and minibuses to and from Capestang if required, from some common places in Languedoc, but only for groups of 6+ people. Please contact us for details.

If using public transport, there is a No. 202 bus from Beziers to Capestang but please note that you must ensure you arrive on time for your cruise and we can take no responsibility for this link to the bus timetable, as it may change! (Click on 'Horaires' next to the 202.)

OTHER STARTING PORTS
(For groups, or privatised cruises only)
We would just say that we based Adagio at Capestang for a reason. It's in the middle of what most people consider to be the best part of the Canal du Midi. Our recommendation is that it's worth travelling by car, taxi or bus to Capestang, to begin your cruise.
If booking a long way in advance it's sometimes possible to start your cruise from a different port but this can attract a significant premium. This depends on availability and demand for Adagio and it's much better to assume that Capestang will be your starting port.
THE CANAL DU MIDI
The atmosphere is wonderful and you'll experience a small part of the majestic waterway which runs from France's Atlantic Coast, through Toulouse and all the way down here to the Bassin de Thau just south of us.

The Canal du Midi became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996 and is known around the World. If you come to the Languedoc on holiday, a Canal du Midi daytrip or cruise is just one of those things you have to do!

CANAL DU MIDI CLIENT TESTIMONIAL, SEPT :

"Hi Sara, Just wanted to report that we had a wonderful time on the lunch cruise. Lunch was delicious, and the way things were organized was perfect.

Enough time outside to see things and the captain was VERY accommodating, talking about many things as we cruised down the canal.

Thanks, and I would give the lunch cruise an A+. "

""Dear Sara, We had a wonderful trip yesterday... a lovely meal and boat trip enjoyed by all, not bad for an age range of 5 to 79 years!

I will definitely recommend your website and trips this summer.

My son took some photos but my husband forgot to as he was so busy talking and watching the world go by!

Thanks once again and I will be in touch in the not too distant future I'm sure." "

- Kind regards, Sarah and family, Australia
