| 1. Where Should We Start From? We have 18 bases in South and Central France, so you have a great choice. We offer boating holidays on the Canal du Midi, Saone, Loire, Ninervais, and other waterways. However the start point for your boating holiday will often be determined by where your chosen boat is available! Our advice is to focus on choosing your region first, then your preferred rental boat(s). Then we can look at availability and exactly where you could start from, how to get there, and where you could cruise. There's a choice of itineraries, don't worry! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| 2. Which Region and Parts of The Canals And Rivers Are The Best? This is almost impossible to answer! Each of the regions we work in is beautiful. Your decision will partly depend on your travel arrangements and also on your preferences for climate. Clearly the Canal du Midi in the South where we live has the best weather. That said, the Burgundy region in Central France is equally gorgeous! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2.1 General Information About the Canal du Midi
The Canal du Midi, the most famous canal in the world, together with the mediaeval city of Carcassonne have both acheived UNESCO world heritage status - a tribute to their historic and natural beauty. Linking the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, the Canal du Midi runs through beautiful hills in the shadows of the Pyrenees. It then passes tantalizingly close to the Mediterranean in the Camargue. Cruising by boat along the canal there are many ancient towns and villages, where you can discover many hidden treasures, together with local gastronomic and cultural delights |

2.2 General Information About Central France : Burgundy
Burgundy is one of the most famous and beautiful regions of France, with the Canal du Nivernais and Canal de Bourgogne offering some of the most attractive canal & river cruising to be found anywhere in the world. Add to this Burgundy's reputation for fine wine such as Chablis & Sancerre and its gastronomy and you have the perfect ingredients for a most memorable French boating holiday. |

REVIEW:
"Floating through the meandering canal under the canopy of the plane trees with beautiful yellow lilies lining the shore made for beautiful scenery. It felt like we were in an impressionist painting.
Our only mistake was not having more time.... we could easily have gone for two weeks.
Each day was an adventure but also filled with wonderful tastes. We travelled from Agde to Carcassonne and enjoyed every minute on the canal.
It is a trip of the lifetime and not to be missed. Yes, you can drive the road along the canal but living on the boat for a week was amazing!
At the end of each day we would moor and enjoy wine and cheese on the top deck and recount our adventures for the day! Do remember you are in France and enjoy operating on French time....easy and relaxed. "
