THE SILVER FLEET
These boats comprise the minimum level of comfort I offer.
I don't offer a "Bronze" Range - these would be what you'll see on other websites described as "Budget" boats, or something similar. In my experience those budget boats are often disappointing. My clients usually come from outside France and I don't think they would thank me for recommending one after they had done a long journey!
The Silver fleet includes boats of many types and there are boats available in all three regions of France which we recommend: Canal du Midi (South), Burgundy (Central), and Charente, Lot and Garonne (South-West).
Linen is part of the rental (blanket, sheets, pillow cases and pillows). Towels and tea towels can be hired at the departure base. A cleaning set is also on sale at the base.
Easy to handle and traditionally shaped, these boats offer a reasonable standard of comfort for family holidays if budget is a consideration.
CHOOSING YOUR LEVEL OF COMFORT
The boat that you choose and hire will be your “home” during your cruise, so it's important to make the right choice. All the boats offer a minimum standard of comfort such as hot and cold running water, shower, toilet, kitchen and heating. The amount of equipment depends on the type of boat.
If you're the type of person who likes a little more comfort, then you should look at the "Gold" or "Platinum" Range boats on this website.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
The sleeping capacity is a major factor in determining your choice of boat. I have my own system on this website! I know other companies do things differently, but I try to think like you - the holidaymaker.
Most of my clients want to know "How many separate sleeping cabins?". So that is how I describe each boat at the top of its description. Of course on each boat you can sleep more people if you convert the living room seats into a bed, but if you want to be really comfortable then you want to know how many sleeping cabins.
I don't recommend using the maximum sleeping capacity. The comfort on board will then start to be reduced and the equipment such as the fridge, toilets and showers, is generally not enough for one week.
