THE ITINERARY

You will see some of the best sights on this part of the famous Canal du Midi.

You'll go through fascinating locks, through the Tunnel of Malpas, and even pass over a beautiful aquaduct.

Start time : 09.45  (9.45am)
End time  : 16.00  (4pm)

5-COURSE LUNCH
Your lunch menu typically consists of :-

  • A plate of crudités
  • A plate of meats from the region
  • The main course (this depends on the day)
  • Cheeses on a bed of salad
  • Dessert
  • Wine
  • Coffee can be ordered.

  • LOCATION: On the edge of Beziers. (See map below.)
  • QUESTION : Yes, but where exactly do I pick up the boat? ANSWER : Please see the map below. After I receive your booking and initial payment, you will receive an email with a link to a page with a map, details, and lots of helpful information to ensure you have the most fun on the day! Please note that this is not available until AFTER you make a reservation.
  • QUESTION : Do you offer these barge cruises in Carcassonne? ANSWER : I have a lot of clients who are staying in Carcassonne and who make bookings for this barge. The reason I don’t offer boats from Carcassonne is because people normally say that the Canal du Midi is much nicer a little further to the east! :)
  • The boat returns to the same place where you started. I regret that one-way trips are NOT possible.
  • Your cruise starts at 09.45 and you return at 16.00 (4pm).
  • This is a guaranteed online booking service - if you book with me in advance you know that places have been reserved for you.
  • A reservation requires a non-refundable advance part-payment by credit card.
  • The rest of your payment can be by Euro cheque or cash when you arrive at the port. Please note that credit cards are not accepted at the port.
  • Prices include taxes and booking and administration fee.

  • QUESTION : Can I get a refund if it rains? ANSWER : No, I'm sorry. But it doesn't rain here much!

  • QUESTION : Can I choose different times? ANSWER : No, I'm sorry, the times are shown above.
  • QUESTION : Is there any flexibility at all? ANSWER : I wish I could give more flexibility but unfortunately all my partners who provide day-trip activities offer what they offer, and that's the way things are in France! :(

Your cruise boat navigates a part of the Canal du Midi which is considered by most people to be the best. You will depart and return to the same place in Beziers.

The Canal du Midi's atmosphere is wonderful. It became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996 and is famous around the World. If you're thinking of coming to the South of France on holiday, a Canal du Midi barge cruise is just magical!

WHY THIS DAY-TRIP?

We are all different but if you're thinking: "Why This Cruise?", here are my personal thoughts:-

1. Times: If you're looking for a cruise of 6 hours which includes lunch, then this trip might suit you.

2. Dates: If you can be flexible with the day you want to do a cruise, then that's fine - please note that this cruise operates only 2-3 days per week.

3. Cost: This cruise is the least expensive of my Canal du Midi day-trips, calculated by the hour. It includes lunch in the price.

4. Convenience: If you are happy to stay on the boat for the whole day and have lunch on board, without getting off the boat, then this is the cruise for you.

5. Itinerary: You will spend almost 6 hours cruising, so you will see a lot of the Canal du Midi.

"We are 8 Australian ladies who had the pleasure of meeting Sara & Leigh (and of course gorgeous Max) while visiting the Pezenas area.

Activities Languedoc, which Sara and Leigh manage besides running their lovely villas, gave us the most amazing tours and took the hassle out of trying to organize ourselves.

In the few days we were in Pezenas they arranged a private boat with a beautiful meal down the Canal du Midi, a wine tasting and tapas evening at a nearby chateau under beautiful oak trees, a visit to another chateau with tour of vineyard and beautiful grounds with, of course, more wine tasting (as you do in France) as well as a beautiful luncheon in a pristine location in Pezenas with a guided tour from Leigh to give us the history of Pezenas.

As if that wasn't enough Sara & Leigh invited us to their home to be entertained by 2 lovely musicians around a candle-lit pool for more wine and delicious nibblies.

We all feel as if we have met the most amazing husband and wife team that truly care about taking care of others so if you want to have the time of your life contact Sara or Leigh they will become friends for life.

I know we may not see them until we visit France again but they truly touched our hearts and we will never forget them."
