INTRODUCTION...
This lovely barge, 100 years old with 2 double cabins, is operated by the Captain and his partner for you on a self-catering basis. This is very rare to find on French canals!

Barges are normally "luxury barge hotels" with everything provided for a luxury cruise, including gourmet meals from a chef, drinks served by a hostess, and a driver to take you on excursions each day. These cruises are very, very nice, but of course they come at a price!

Barge "M" gives you a very interesting alternative and a much lower price - but still with a Captain and crew member to pilot the boat. 		Self-catering barge holiday on the Canal du Midi, South of France, private owners

2 cosy doubles, each with ensuite bathrooms.

Barge Size: 79ft x 13ft (24m x 4m), Captain + 1 crew.
Facilities : TV, DVDs, X-Box, books, board games.
  Bicycles on board, large sundeck.
Pricing : From €1950 per week, for the whole barge.

ON DECK: There is ample room for dining under a parasol, for shade on those warm sunny southern European days, and a large area for sunloungers etc.
Cycling along the Canal du Midi as part of your cruise - if you feel like some gentle exercise! CYCLE ALONGSIDE THE BARGE AS IT CRUISES!

A couple of bicycles are carried on the barge, so if you're feeling like some mild exercise one or two of you can even cycle lazily along the towpath as your barge meanders through the canal!

INSIDE: This barge has been lovingly restored, renovated, updated, improved and converted with great attention to detail. What was once the cargo hold now carries a bright, airy and luxurious living space. The living area houses a clean practical fitted kitchen equipped with most items needed for self catering.

There is a dining table that seats 6 and the lounge has 2 sofas, one of which is extendable into a sofabed. There is a TV and plenty of DVD’s plus an X-Box and other more traditional family games, to keep the whole family occupied in any rare bad weather or on cosy evenings.

The crew end is separate - they have a small “den” with cooking area and en-suite shower room as well as the “wheelhouse” and “Captains Bunk House”.

YOUR CABINS: I would describe the two cabins as being 'cosy' rather than 'spacious'. However my husband and I would sleep in them happily.

Each cabin has a fully equipped bathroom with full sized shower. Bed linen is provided of course.

YOUR HOSTS: Your Captain has his International Certificate of Competence, his VHF radio license, is a competent diesel engine mechanic and is competent with electrics. A lot of his time is given to maintaining the boat to ensure that all systems work and that she looks good.

The Captain's partner and First Mate built up a home marina which she and the Captain ran for 9 years. She also has a VHF license, Helmsman Certificate and CEVNI / ICC. She loves to create what she hopes guests will find to be a relaxing and clean, comfortable environment.

Finally there's an additional smaller crew member - their dog. He's very friendly but it's your choice whether to allow him below decks - otherwise he'll be confined to the wheelhouse and the crew quarters.

"We spent a very relaxed week in September. We met the boat at Beziers with a welcome bar-b-que on deck.

An early start took us through the locks (incredible sight) and on to Vias to stock up on supplies, then took the bikes and spent the day on the beach. We then had a very exciting and wind swept crossing across the Etang lake to Sete.

Well worth it, Sete is absolutely stunning, especially for boat fans. Then back across the Lake to Vias, this time to explore the town, then home.

The Captain and his wife were happy to go at our pace and also have an abundance of knowledge to advise on places to go and routes to take. They are also very good fun and excellent hosts."

"Thank you for your hospitality and the wonderful time we had whilst on board. We loved the boat and all its facilities and were so pleased to find one that accepted dogs.

The entire trip was such fun and one of the many highlights was discovering the town of Buzet. The local wines were excellent. How can they produce and sell such good wine for so little?

Our walk to see the hill top châteaux was fascinating and the surrounding scenery superb.

Must also mention the BBQs in the gorgeous evening sunshine. They hold many fond memories.

Our holiday with you was peaceful but never dull, romantic and a delight from start to finish. Thanks again for everything."
